WhileDaggooandQueequegwerestoppingthestrainedplanks;andasthewhaleswimmingoutfromthem,turned,andshowedoneentireflankasheshotbythemagain;atthatmomentaquickcrywentup.Lashedroundandroundtothefish'sback;pinionedintheturnsuponturnsinwhich,duringthepastnight,thewhalehadreeledtheinvolutionsofthelinesaroundhim,thehalftornbodyoftheParseewasseen;hissableraimentfrayedtoshreds;hisdistendedeyesturnedfulluponoldAhab.
